Birthday & Anniversary Celebrations
Updated: Oct 2, 2019
With both Adam and I having Friday, July 26th, 2019 off, we decided to celebrate Gunner's second Birthday and our Anniversary on different days this year!
Friday morning we went out for brunch at our favorite breakfast place called Floyd's Diner in Langford, BC. They have the best breakfast food that we have come across here on the island and it was one of the first places we ate at when first moving here and fell in love!
After breakfast, I drove over to Party Crashers and picked up the number 2 balloon that I had ordered for Gunner's room.
I had created the banner above his crate about a week ago in anticipation of his first Birthday with us and him turning 2! The balloon matched it perfectly and I was happy with how the room decor turned out.
Later that day we had to drive over to the base and pick up a canoe that Adam had rented for us for our Anniversary weekend. Unfortunately being only 5 feet tall really was not in our favor when it came to lifting and strapping it to the Jeep. Poor Adam had to do most of the heavy lifting all weekend carrying that thing around!
Saturday, July 27th, 2019 started out very early as we had lots of fun activities planned for the day. We started out by putting on our swim gear and making some smoothies for taking Gunner out for a walk to the park first. We always try to make sure that he is taken care of by going for a walk and also having frozen Kong toys to play with while we are out as well as the window open, the fan on and tons of water in his Rae Dunn extra large water bowl at the house.
With July 27th being our Anniversary we both woke up in such an amazing mood and feeling very blessed! We also exchanged gifts that morning before heading out to Thetis Lake with the canoe.
We got to Thetis at just the right time as we were able to find parking by the dog beach where it is a lot closer to the water and easier for putting the canoe in. We were out on the water for about 1 to 2 hours enjoying the 25 plus degree weather while we ate our lunch on the water. After we put the canoe back on the car, we ended up spending some time at the main beach to catch some rays and maybe a short nap...
For anyone wondering since I have had people ask me, the bathing suit I wore on this day is from Ardene!
About a week or so back we had some photos taken special for our 1 Year Anniversary coming up! We both wanted this anniversary to be very special as we have been through so much already as a couple with having to relocate and move across Canada together.
Here are some of our favorite shots:
We are both so blessed to have found one another and it's moments like these that we are able to capture together that really makes life special.
For our Anniversary dinner plans, Adam had told me that he already made reservations to a restaurant downtown to which neither one of us has ever been to.
I had been looking for the perfect Anniversary dress for a couple weeks now and I was feeling defeated up until last week when I found myself wandering Winners one night when Adam was working a night shift.
I found this beautiful orange long dress at the Winners in Langford and just thought it was the perfect summer vibrant colour for the occasion.
Here is a picture of us at Vista 18 Restaurant located inside the Chateau Hotel in Victoria celebrating our anniversary. The view of the ocean and mountains from the 18th floor was breath taking! Perfect for an Anniversary dinner.
I have to say I had the most fun filled jam packed weekend and there isn't anyone I would have wanted to have with me aside from Adam!
Sunday, July 28th, 2019 we decided to take the canoe out one last time but this time close to the new apartment that we will be moving into come September. We got out on the water after lunch and had the most relaxing Sunday afternoon before another busy week was bout to gear up.
The above picture, is of Portage West which is where we signed our new lease for September 1st! The coolest thing is that it used to be an old Econo Lodge Motel that was transformed into apartment and cottage rentals. The owner invested 3.6 million dollars and it definitely shows!
It features an outdoor pool, gym, free canoe and kayak rentals, cafe, shared laundry and the property is all water front so we can enjoy the view while drinking coffee in the mornings on our balcony. On top of all that, the units all feature quartz counter tops, stainless steel appliances as well as modern laminate flooring.
Our unit is a one bedroom plus a flex room and it also has a big walk in closet for all my shoes....I mean mine and Adam's clothing... I will be doing another apartment tour blog post once we are all settled in but we can't be more excited for the fall season on the Gorge!

On a side note...here are some funny videos of Gunner from this past week:
Thank you everyone for the comments and wishes on Gunner's Birthday and our Anniversary celebrations.I hope everyone is enjoying Summer 2019!
