Favorite Pairs of Prescription Glasses:
Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Hope everyone is staying in and being safe!
I recently checked my benefits for prescription glasses and found out that I had around $400.00 CAD to spend on glasses until the end of this year. I went on GlassesUSA which is one of my favorite websites to shop for glasses and placed an order for three new pairs and expedited shipping which just about finished off the remainder of my benefits for the year!
In this post I will be sharing with you 7 prescription glasses that I own as well as one cheaper amazon pair that is non-prescription and has a blue light filter on it perfect for people who don't need prescription glasses but either want to achieve the look or use their phones, tablets or laptops at night!
I should mention that my other favorite store to order glasses from is Bailey Nelson!
I will start off with the non-prescription pair that I own from Amazon. Before purchasing a more expensive clear pink pair of glasses I wanted to see if I would like the look, so I ordered this pair as a test, however I do find myself wearing these glasses in bed at night when I'm surfing the web as they do have a blue light filter which decreases the amount of blue light displayed on the screen of the device. Blue light can suppress the production of melatonin (sleep-inducing hormone), so filtering it out can help you sleep better. It will also reduce digital eye strain, so your eyes won't feel so tired by the end of the day.
** Since I have had people asking, the decal that I have on my Starbucks cold drink cup is off Etsy! Store is linked here! Heather has created all of my Starbucks cup decals including the hot coffee cups that I have made for our Bridal Party!**
The measurements for this pair are Eye 53 / Bridge 18 / Temple 140. If you don't know what your face measurements are, it is very useful when purchasing prescription glasses online to ensure you are purchasing a pair that will fit your face. For reference, I have a medium sized face and try my best to stick as close to these proportions as possible.
The below picture is taken from the GlassesUSA website and can better describe how the measurements on their website can be read!
My oldest pair of prescription glasses that I still have is this black pair of Ray Bans that was purchased about 8-10 years ago from LensCrafters. This is the only pair I own where I don't have a link to it online as I have had them for such a long time (yes my prescription has stayed the same more or less along the years for anyone wondering).
They are a rectangular plain pair of glasses and the measurements are Eye 50 / Bridge 17 / Temple 140.
My next favorite pairs of prescription glasses were purchased from Bailey Nelson online!
The top pair is called Carrie in the colour clear and the measurements are Eye 55 / Bridge 15 / Temple 145.
The bottom pair is called Wells in the colour Cherry Bloosom and the measurements are Eye 50 / Bridge 20 / Temple 140. I get a lot of compliments when I wear these around the office:)
The rest of the pairs of prescription glasses that I own and love are all from GlassesUSA! I will start with my first purchased pair from them which is this beautiful Teal pair! This pair is called Muse Aileen in the colour Teal/Clear and the measurements are Eye 49/ Bridge 21 / Temple 145.
BONUS: The above pair is currently on mega sale for $29.60 USD!!!
The above three pairs are my newest purchases. The top ones called Muse X Hilary Duff Zora and they are in the colour Clear/ Pink. They are part of an awesome collaboration that Hillary Duff has done with GlassesUSA! The measurements for these are Eye 52 / Bridge 18 / Temple 140.
The middle pair is called Muse X Hilary Duff Ruth Tortoise and they are also part of the same Hilary Duff collection in the colour Tortoise. These are a little bit bigger and more bulky than the other ones I own so I can see that I may not reach for these a lot however I do like them for a different more masculine look!
The last pair is a very minimal black pair called Amelia E. Tara Shiny Black. These are part of the same collection as the previous Clear/ Teal ones I already owned so I knew I would like them before I even placed the order! The measurements for this pair are Eye 50 / Bridge 19 / Temple 140. I needed a new pair of plain black ones with my most updated prescription to replace my older Ray Bans pair and I chose these for that purpose!
As you can see the more consistent measurements for all my pairs are the Eye measurement as well as the Temple measurement. I truly believe that if you have these right, you are all good to order online. It can be very difficult when you are unsure of what shape best fits your face as well as what size to look for.
So, the next time that you are getting your vision test done, try on some glasses and ask your Optometrist what measurements would fit your face best if you wanted to order online.
I find that purchasing a full pair of prescription lenses as well as frames from an Optometry office can easily ring up the bill to $500.00 CAD. If you are like me, and have a weaker prescription and know your own face shape as well as measurements, ordering online from such stores is way cheaper option and you will get more pairs for the $500.00 that I personally am entitled to every two years from my benefits.
The background story behind purchasing cheaper frames is that when I was in high school, I purchased a $700.00 CAD pair of Prada prescription lenses+frames on my parents benefits and they were probably the worst made glasses I owned. I am not trying to make designer brands look bad, however I realized that for the most part even a designer brand can have duds and I was stuck wearing those glasses for years because I blew all the money on that one pair. From that time on, I swore to never spend that amount of money on one designer pair and here we are!
Thank you so much for reading today's blog post and make sure to share and reach out if you have any questions about any of the pairs I linked above!
